Events–Spring 2016 & Ongoing

INDOOR PICNIC/NEW BEGINNINGS REVISITED–  On May 15th, luncheon Sunday, we will gather after church, in Clement Hall for an indoor picnic featuring grilled hot dogs, sides, and desserts.  We’ll revisit the New Beginnings goals set in 2015, and get a report on their progress.  Also, we we’ll look ahead and seek ideas for new goals to implement.  So wear your picnic attire to worship on May the 15th and join us for a pleasant picnic with church family.  No sunscreen or mosquito repellent necessary.

FRIDAY FUN NIGHTS–By the time you are reading this our Friday Fun Nights will have begun.  Are you looking for a social activity to attend on Friday nights?  Come to Clement Hall every Friday from 6:30-8:30 and you will find that very thing.  The first Friday of the month is Board Games, the second Friday, Arts and Crafts, the third Friday, Card Games, and the fourth Friday, dutch treat Field Trips to be announced each month.  Come and join in!  Come and help!  You’ll be blessed and leave with a smile!

HOBO PARTY —Those Palacios High School seniors attending had a wonderful time.  The selfie scavenger hunt and the box game were the highlights of the party.  Senior class sponsor, Jason Miller (PHS Ag. Teacher) and senior parent and church member Cyndi Alvarez  reminisced about attending the hobo party during their senior years. The party ended with a devotional given by Rev. Kathy Vineyard.  Ceramic hobos prizes for the best dressed hobos. This year the best dressed guy was Josh Garcia and the best dressed girl was Marissa Figueroa. A big thank you to Patty Frankson for always doing a great job on the ceramic hobos. The main winner of the night for the annual box game was Sam Shulman who received the cash at the center of the box.  THANK YOU! to everyone who donated or otherwise helped  make this a success, and we look forward to next year.        Peace in Christ, The Mission Committee

Men’s Breakfast is held at 7:30 a.m. on the second Sunday of each month. Men of the Presbyterian, Methodist, First Baptist and Trinity Baptist Churches take turns hosting at their respective churches.

Meets monthly, usually in members’ homes, for Bible study and fellowship.  This year our study is titled Come to the Waters, and is particularly interesting for our coastal community.

Meet Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. in members’ homes to discuss current issues affecting Christians.

On the third Sunday of each month all are invited for food and fellowship at a potluck Luncheon after the Worship Service. In December, the luncheon is replaced by a Progressive Dinner.

We are also encouraged to bring canned goods for the Palacios Food Pantry on Luncheon Sundays so that others may also be fed.
